After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1975, he began his career at Hansen & Co. in Hayward, California. He later worked for Bartig Basler & Ray CPAs, Matthews Crippen Tenney & Co., and Alexander Grant (now Grant-Thornton). In July of 1986, he returned to Bartig, Basler & Ray CPAs as a partner and became part of the GALLINA team when the firms merged in 2006.
Brad has extensive professional experience in government auditing, in addition to his expertise auditing all types of business entities, corporations, and non-profit organizations. Brad has performed over 400 county audits which include 38 of the 58 California counties. This substantial experience also allows Brad to provide consulting services in the areas of process reengineering and “best practices” analyses.
In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, Brad is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA). His CVA certification gives him the knowledge and experience to perform investigations of alleged embezzlements or misappropriations of funds. Some of his clients have been apartment owners, governmental agencies, and medical clinics. “I’m frequently asked to speak to organizations about how to prevent and detect fraud and embezzlements,” Brad says. “I enjoy speaking because it also gives me an opportunity to listen and to find out firsthand the challenges our clients and their industries are facing.” His CVA certification allows him to provide business valuation services to GALLINA’s clients, as well.
Brad is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA) where he served as chairman of the Sacramento Chapter’s Governmental Accounting and Auditing Committee. He belongs to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), as well as the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA).
