Dan Baker

Dan started his accounting career in 1985 and joined GALLINA in 2001.  As an owner and audit manager at his previous firm, Dan has a wealth of experience in construction, professional service corporations, and real estate.  He also has experience working with low-income housing audits and tax credit entities.  He is a seasoned professional in tax planning, business and individual tax preparation, and other accounting services for small to large-size companies.

Dan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Humboldt State University.  He played football for four years in college — two at Sierra College, where he was voted team captain, and two at Humboldt State, where he was voted Most Valuable Defensive Lineman in his senior year.  (A shoulder injury disrupted his plans for a pro football career.)

He is a licensed CPA and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA).  He also regularly attends events and meetings for a number of other professional groups.

He has been an avid sportsman all of his life.  “I led a pretty active life growing up in Tahoe City,” he says.  He skied, hiked, fished, and hunted; and he was a serious competitor in swimming, baseball, basketball, wrestling, and football.

Dan has been married for more than two decades.  He is the proud father of two sons and a longtime coach of their baseball and football teams.  He has used his leadership skills to coach football at Woodcreek High School and to coach a local youth football team to the state championship playoff three years in a row.

“Over the years, I’ve found that my sports experience combined with my professional training and background, has allowed me to bring focus, teamwork, discipline, and strategic thinking to help our clients,” Dan says.  “All successful business people understand the concept of teamwork.”
