Darren Sparks

Darren, a partner in the San Jose office, has always had a strong interest in the construction industry. While working his way through school, he served as a manager for both local and national building material retailers, and worked as a laborer for a residential homebuilder.

Since joining GALLINA in 1995, Darren has worked with a variety of construction and construction related companies, as well as industries such as real estate development, mining, and retail sales.

In addition to traditional compliance and year-end services such as auditing, accounting and tax, Darren consults on a wide range of construction-related matters. Some notable recent consulting engagements include: merger and acquisitions for publicly held contractors, contract negotiations, and cost analysis for Fortune 500 companies. He also serves as an expert in construction litigation matters.

A pro-active, outgoing accounting professional, Darren is committed to helping his clients better manage their businesses by working closely with them to analyze their operations and to provide practical solutions for overcoming obstacles and identifying opportunities.

“I take a personal interest in helping clients manage success and I’m proud to be working with some of the most successful and respected construction companies in Northern California,” he says.

Darren’s commitment extends beyond his daily client responsibilities. He is active in a variety of construction associations, as well as local charities. He also enjoys educating others and has been a guest speaker on a number of construction accounting, tax, and operational matters for various banks, bonding companies, and construction associations. He is particularly proud of being invited to guest lecture at his alma mater, San Jose State University, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

Darren is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He and his wife Kerrie have been residents of San Jose for several years and look forward to their future raising their two sons Sean and Ryan, and their daughter Kasey.
