John, a partner in GALLINA’s Sacramento office, has been with the firm since 1985.
He has more than two decades of experience providing business consulting and financial reporting for a variety of small and medium sized businesses. His emphasis is on construction companies, real estate development companies, residential builders, and shopping center operators.
Since 1995, John has served, on a part time basis, as Chief Financial Officer for the Robert C. Powell Companies. The Powell Companies’ core businesses, during the past decade, have included the operation of three large Shopping Centers in Sacramento: Pavilions, Gold River Towne Centre, and Birdcage Centre. The companies have also built and sold premier residential homes and have operated a commercial office building in Gold River. In addition, they currently have an 85-unit condominium development project under construction.
“My responsibilities with the Powell Companies,” John explains, “include all financial reporting, supervision of the accounting department, preparation of all annual and monthly budgets and projections for all of the shopping centers, as well as each real estate project and office building.”
John has prepared and analyzed the projected viability of land and commercial and residential development projects for the Powell Companies and a variety of other clients. Some of these clients include a retail center operator with ten centers, a hotel chain with eight locations, a property management firm operating twenty hotels, and a residential home builder/developer.
A 1981 California State University, Sacramento graduate, John began his career in private-sector accounting by working for three years in the shipping industry. He entered public accounting in 1984 as a staff accountant for Lautze & Lautze Accountancy Corporation.
John is a licensed CPA and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA).
