Teresa opened GALLINA’s Novato office in 1995 and she serves as its partner-in-charge. She brings more than two decades of professional experience to the job. “My number one goal is to provide timely and exceptional service to our clients,” she says.
In addition to providing auditing, accounting, and tax services to GALLINA’s Bay Area clients, Teresa also consults with them on business organization, continuation, business valuation, mergers and acquisitions of publicly held contractors, and estate planning. Her clients include construction companies of various sizes and specialties, as well as self-storage facilities. Teresa has extensive experience planning and implementing accounting systems for construction companies. She helps clients select and set up computer software and hardware systems and also trains their bookkeepers and controllers. Her introduction to the construction industry came early with involvement in her family’s general contracting business. Teresa earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting before starting her career at GALLINA in 1984. She has continued her education by taking courses in income taxes, estate planning, construction accounting, and sales/use taxes. Teresa is involved in a number of construction industry and accounting associations. She is a past board member of the Northern California Engineering Contractors Association — which has twice named her affiliate of the year (in 1998 and 2000) — and is actively involved in the North Bay Chapter of the Associated General Contractors. She is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). She has lectured on tax and accounting matters to construction groups such as Women Construction Owners and Executives (WCOE) and the Engineering Contractors Association (ECA). She has also contributed tax articles to various organization newsletters. In her spare time, she enjoys “activities with the family, mostly at swim meets and playing tennis,” she says. Teresa lives in Novato with her husband Dennis and four children. |
