Tyler Hunt

Prior to being a part of the GALLINA team, Tyler spent over 10 years with one of the accounting industry’s Big Four firms — and is a former shareholder at Bartig, Basler and Ray CPAs, Inc., which merged its practice into GALLINA in 2006.  His favorite business environment would probably have to be “the outdoors.”  “I pretty much grew up on a golf course in southern Utah,” he says.  “One of my brothers is a professional golfer and another one has a three handicap.  Golf has always been a game that was a perfect match for my personal and professional code of ethics: Skill and results count, and you can’t approach it with anything less than complete integrity.”

During his career, Tyler has developed a well-deserved reputation for his expertise in federal, state, and local tax.  He feels that the more complicated the subject matter, the more important it is for CPAs to present numbers and strategies in a clear and meaningful way.  “When you view your clients as your friends, as I always have, you treat them with respect.  That means sharing your knowledge and counsel.  Business, like sports, is dependent on focus and a mutual regard for each member of the team.”

Tyler is a recognized leader in federal and state credits and incentives.  While minimizing any disruption to their business operations, he takes pride in helping his clients identify benefits to which they are legally entitled.  In fact, one of his recent cooperative refund solutions provided his client with more than $700,000 in state tax refunds.  He has assisted some of the largest and most complex organizations in the country with state tax matters such as state income/franchise tax planning, state tax refund analysis, sales/use tax audit assistance, state tax consulting, property tax appeals, and corporate restructuring.  He is also highly respected for his work in federal tax matters such as tax return preparation, consultation, audit assistance, and tax provision preparation/review for financial reporting purposes.

Tyler graduated at the top of his class when he obtained his Master of Accountancy degree at Southern Utah University.  Tyler has served clients in a variety of industries.  He specifically focuses on manufacturing, distribution, retail, banking, real estate, construction, technology, insurance, gaming, and professional sports.

He and his wife have four children.  When Tyler isn’t working, he enjoys golf, hunting, fishing, skiing and camping…basically anything that takes him outside.
